<description>Susan Seubert is a lifestyle and travel photographer who has made pictures for Bon Appetit, National Geographic Traveler, Sunset, and more.

She came to me with a small budget and a desire for a simple but effective promotional piece that showcased her photography.

After delivering hundreds of images for me to choose from, we came up with three pairings for three 6x8 folding accordions.

<description>Editor Meg Krugel contacted me about redesigning the Oregon Education Association's member magazine, Today's OEA.

Requirements for the magazine redesign:
+ More consumer magazine and less newsletter
+ Less formulaic
+ Better organization of content
+ Livelier
+ More colorful
+ Approachable, surprising and not too edgy
+ Stronger photography
+ Increase typography palette

The redesign moved at a fast pace with only days to choose a library of typefaces, determine a color palette and define a grid system.

Today's OEA's content doesn't naturally allow for visuals so emphasis was made on using typography well to deliver information.

Response so far has been outstanding.

<description>Virtuoso Life is a bi-monthly luxury travel magazine.

Formerly called Travel + Life, the magazine went through a redesign in late 2005. I commissioned Typographer Joshua Darden to develop a new logo Virtuoso Life and a custom typeface.

As Art Director and Photography Director, I worked very closely with the Editor-in-chief and Senior Editors to create the best visual approach for each story.

I also hired domestic and international photographers to shoot images for feature stories; executed massive picture research and negotiated contracts.

Below are a sampling of selected layouts.

<description>Randy Olson and Melissa Farlow are contributing photographers for National Geographic Magazine.

They contacted me with a desire to redesign their site and integrate a new archive and distribution system for their photographs.

The site is integrated with Photoshelter by customizing their page templates and will be integrated with Wordpress so they can upload and manage their content. Currently, the site was hand-coded using CSS, XHTML and some jquery.

Since the launch of their new website, traffic has increased substantially and stock image sales have exceeded expectations.

<description>The Red Door Inn is an intimate and contemporary bed and breakfast located in the heart of St. Helena's historic downtown.

At the time The Red Door Inn contacted me, they were planning a renovation as well as adding additional rooms to the Inn.

Some of the problems they wished to address with a redesign:
+ Update the look and feel with more photography and more user-friendly navigation
+ Increase SEO and bookings
+ A better way to update content on their own
+ A better hosting service
+ Minimize or rid problems related to email

In the few months the redesign has been live, the Red Door Inn has emailed to let me know traffic has increased as well as reservations.

<description>Kevin Weinstein is a documentary-style wedding photographer based in Chicago, Illinois.

His brief was extensive: Overhaul his brand with a new logo, a new website, an ad for a magazine, two promotional pieces, email newsletter, business cards and letterhead.

For his website, Kevin wanted a fresh, contemporary feel that showcased more of his photography in a way that was more user-friendly and more search engine friendly.

Within one week of launching his new website Kevin has booked 9 new clients for the Spring 2010 wedding season. Feedback continues to be positive.

<description>COR Cellars is a small, rustic, down-to-earth winery located in the scenic Columbia Gorge River Valley area.

I got in touch with the owner, Luke Bradford, after receiving a newsletter from a local restaurant featuring COR Cellar wines. There was a link to the website and when I got there, the only information available was a link to a large image map and an image of their list of wines.

Looking for some projects to add to my portfolio and push my web design and coding chops, I contacted Luke to find out if he was interested in working together.

This is the result of that cold call and a redesign with a very tight budget.

All photography is by Deb Pang Davis and Mike Davis.
